Spray Tan Prep and Aftercare
A bomb spray tan requires care and maintenance. The end result is based on 50% of the artists work and 50% on the clients prep and aftercare. Follow the tips below to a T to get the best results.
Pre Care
1. Exfoliate
-
Exfoliate your skin & shower the night before the tan - NOT the day of the tan.
-
If possible, exfoliate 2-3 times leading up to the day of the appointment with the last time being the night before.
-
Avoid scrubs with oils as they may leave an oil residue preventing the spray tan solution from soaking into your skin properly.

2. Moisturize
-
On the days leading up to the tan, moisturize your skin often! The more your skin is moisturized, the better. But don’t use lotion ON the day of the appointment.
-
Drink lots of water so your skin is also hydrated from the inside out.
3. Hair Removal and Mani-Pedi's
-
Shave 24 hours before the tan, NOT the day of the tan.
-
Waxing should be done at least 48 hours prior so that no residue is left on the skin.
-
Manicures/pedicures should also be done 24-48 hours before the tan.
-
If you must do nails afterwards, we recommend just a polish change as you want to avoid any soaking & scrubbing that occurs with a full mani/pedi.

-
On the day of the tan, do not shower! You should have already done this last night when exfoliating. Do not put any product on the skin. This includes lotion, oil, deodorant (especially spray deodorants or the Dove brand deodorant), serums, perfume, or makeup.
-
Bring dark, loose clothing. No jeans, leggings, or bras can be worn right after the appointment (unless you’re wearing the bra during the tan).
-
If it looks like it may rain, bring an umbrella and wear clothes that cover you up as you cannot get your skin wet after the spray tan until your first shower.
-
REMOVE ALL JEWELLERY
-
If you have any sunburns or recent sun/UV damage at all, we will not be able to spray tan you.

-
Immediately after the spray tan, before the first shower, you cannot get wet or sweat at all. This means no washing dishes, no working out during the processing time, no crying, walking outside in the rain, etc.
-
Do not touch your skin until after your first rinse! This means no skin to skin contact with yourself or anyone else until your first shower.
-
Wearing long sleeves/pants will help prevent this.
-
Your artist will tell you how many hours to wait before your first shower. This first shower is ONLY A RINSE using water! Avoid hot water -you don’t have to freeze, lukewarm is fine! We just don’t want to dry out the skin with scorching hot water.
-
Do not wait longer to rinse than what the artist recommended or you run the risk of undesired results.
-
Do not use any product at all. This includes body wash, soap, scrubs, shampoo, conditioner, etc. Water only!
-
You'll see the bronzer coming off your body which is exactly what we want; rinse every crevice of your body and when the water runs completely clear you can get out.
-
Always pat skin dry with the towel, never rub your skin with the towel!
-
Moisturize your skin every single day using tan friendly products (you can purchase these at your appointment) to prolong the tan and keep it looking smoother.
-
Dry skin and spray tans do not mix well.
-
Most drugstore lotions/body washes will have ingredients that could strip the tan.
-
If possible, moisturize 2x per day.
-
Avoid Dove products, soap bars, spray deodorant, aerosol sunscreen, and products with mineral oil.

All clients are required to complete The Waiver form 24 hours prior to their appointment.
